Many thanks for my beautiful bouquet and the organisation of our Eastbourne holiday, it was very good as always. I have come to expect a high standard from you and you have never disappointed me.
We stayed at the Claremont Lions Hotel and I have to say the food in the hotel was excellent as was the attention of the staff. Nothing seemed too much trouble.
When the Manager spoke to us on the coach on arrival, I asked him whether there were bar snacks available at lunchtime and he answered in the affirmative. Tuesday 1ish there were two of us asking for food and drink. The receptionist said the kitchen staff had gone home. When asked for crisps, nibbles or a drink, it turned out the barman had gone to hospital. I offered to make sandwiches – not allowed. Fred Sharp (one of my group) offered to make a drink – not allowed. The receptionist suggested waiting for dinner, I pointed out from 8am to 6:30pm was rather a long time to wait. I had noticed chips advertised on the pier opposite, so Fred, who is an asthmatic, went puffing across the road and we shared a fish, some chips and the receptionist had the rest. I said I would like to see the Manager in the evening. Give him his due, he came to me as soon as I came down. I waited for him to speak and discovered he is very understaffed and asked would I write to the ‘Boss’ and complain. I have to say he couldn’t apologise enough and I told him he could get up off his knees. Actually Fred and I saw the funny side, which was just as well, but everyone knows I have a peculiar sense of humour.
On a separate note, I was delighted to receive the refund cheque for George Wood, and so was he when he was told. Stan Sargeant had tears in his eyes on receiving his refund cheque the previous week. I must therefore thank you all again for all your hard work, it is very much appreciated.
Thank you my friendly travel agency and all good wishes for the future.
