We start the day by visiting The Cordeliers Cloister, one of Saint-Emilion’s major tourist sites. The Roman architecture of the remains is charged with history, they have been perfectly preserved and are one of the most picturesque historic monuments of the Medieval Citadel of Saint-Emilion. A tasting of the house sparkling wine is proposed at the end of the visit. Afterwards, we go to a renowned winery and participate in a oenology experience while having lunch at a Château! Time to get to know Saint-Emilion, his underground heritage, the medieval city, his cloister and the collegiate church. This guided walking tour will tell you more on the main development stages of the city, from its origins to our times. Dinner and overnight stay in Bordeaux.
Day 03
Journey towards the seaside and discover the site listed as a natural heritage site since 1994 and it’s the highest dune in Europe. The Dune of Pilat impresses by its formidable size but also by the breath-taking panorama you get at its summit: Arcachon Bay, the Banc d’Arguin, the Cap Ferret lighthouse and woodland stretching to every horizon. Just climb up and admire the stunning views! We’ll take a pause and take a moment to taste some deliciously fresh oysters while enjoying the incredible view. After having lunch at a sea front restaurant, we set out to explore by boat the Île aux Oiseaux and the famous Cabanes Tchanquées huts perched on stilts. Admire this unique natural treasure which is home to numerous bird species. Meander through 100 hectares of oyster farms, pass tiny oyster-farming hamlets on the water’s edge on the Cap Ferret peninsula: Piquey, Le Canon, L’Herbe, la Vigne. End your boat trip with Arcachon waterfront and its ancient villas, reminders of the resort’s prestigious past. Enjoy dinner and stay overnight in Bordeaux.
Day 04
During this day you will explore the city of Bordeaux with a guided tour through the must see monuments and unmissable places. We start with a panoramic bus tour and continue with a walking tour in the heart of the city. After lunch we visit the Cité du Vin. An audio-guide will allow you to explore the museum at your own pace. At the end of the visit, don’t forget the wine tasting on the rooftop!
