Broughton House & Gardens NT

Broughton House in Kirkcudbright, Scotland, is an 18th-century townhouse that was the home of renowned Scots impressionist artist E. A. Hornel from 1901 to 1933. Now a museum, it showcases Hornel's life, work, and extensive art collection, including a significant Robert Burns library. The Japanese-influenced gardens, designed by Hornel, feature tranquil rockeries, ponds, and historical stone artifacts, offering a serene glimpse into the artist’s world.

Threave Garden Estate NT

Threave Garden and Estate, near Castle Douglas in Dumfries and Galloway, is a stunning 64-acre garden within a 1,500-acre estate managed by the National Trust for Scotland. Originally developed in 1867, the estate features a diverse array of gardens, including a working walled garden, rock garden, and serene ponds. Visitors can explore the nature reserve, home to ospreys and bats, and enjoy views of Threave Castle on the River Dee. 

Castle Kennedy Gardens

Arbigland House & Gardens

Arbigland House is a stunning 18th-century Adam-style mansion set within 24 acres of historic woodland gardens that stretch down to the shores of the Solway Firth. The gardens, originally dating back to the 18th century, feature majestic 200-year-old trees along the Broad Walk, leading to the sea. Visitors can explore a stream-fed lake, a serene Japanese garden, and more formal areas, including a sundial garden and sunken rose garden.

Logan Botanic Garden

Logan Botanic Garden, located near Port Logan on the Rhins of Galloway at Scotland's southwestern tip, is a renowned botanical garden celebrated for its unique collection of exotic plants. Established in 1869, the garden was gifted to the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh in 1969 and is now managed as part of its Living Collection. The garden's mild coastal climate allows for the cultivation of a wide variety of subtropical and temperate plants, making it a must-visit destination for plant enthusiasts and nature lovers alike.
