Manor Hemingford Grey

The Manor in Hemingford Grey, Cambridgeshire, is one of Britain's oldest continuously inhabited houses, dating back to around 1160. It gained fame in the early 18th century as the residence of the renowned "Beautiful Miss Gunnings," Maria and Elizabeth, who were noted for their beauty and high-profile marriages. The house is also well-known for its long-term resident, author Lucy M. Boston, who bought it in 1939 and transformed it into Green Knowe, the setting for her beloved books. The Manor remains much as she left it, with its enchanting gardens featuring topiary, old roses, and award-winning irises.

Island Hall Guided Tour

Island Hall is a Grade II* listed Georgian mansion located near the River Great Ouse in Godmanchester, Cambridgeshire. Built in 1749 as a birthday and wedding gift for John Jackson, it was sold in 1804 and remained a private residence until World War II, when it was requisitioned by the Royal Air Force. Post-war, it was converted into council flats. A fire in 1977 damaged the south wing, but the main house was spared.

Fitzwilliam Museum

The Fitzwilliam Museum, part of the University of Cambridge, is a premier art and antiquities museum located on Trumpington Street. Founded in 1816 by Richard FitzWilliam, 7th Viscount FitzWilliam, it boasts one of western Europe's finest collections. University of Cambridge Botanical Garden

Wimpole Estate & Gardens NT

Wimpole Estate, located in Wimpole, Cambridgeshire, is home to Wimpole Hall, a grand country house started in 1640. Set within 3,000 acres of parkland and farmland, the estate is managed by the National Trust and is the largest house in Cambridgeshire. Open to the public, it welcomed over 335,000 visitors in 2019, offering a glimpse into its rich history and expansive grounds.

Anglesey Abbey NT

Anglesey Abbey, located in Lode, Cambridgeshire, is a National Trust property featuring a country house set on the site of a former priory. The priory was dissolved in 1536, and a Jacobean-style house was built around 1600. Over the centuries, the estate was owned by notable figures including Thomas Hobson and local clergymen. The last private owner, Lord Fairhaven, made significant additions to the house and grounds, enhancing it with his extensive collection of art, furniture, and books.
